FINAL ASSIGNMENT: PRACTICE INTEGRATION

The intention of this assignment is to encourage you to embody restorative practices for yourself. It can be handed in as a Word document, PDF document or Google doc and sent to manouktideman@gmail.com.

1. Create a Restorative setting (quiet, dark, still, and warm). Take a photo and write a short

description of the space and how you changed it.

2. Cultivate a Restorative practice. For 1 week (7 consecutive days), practice a different restorative pose every day.

Write a daily reflection on:

  • Why you chose this pose,

  • If you noticed a difference between before and after the pose,

  • And if there is anything you would do differently next time you practiced the pose.

    Here’s an example:

Day 1: Simple supported backbend (10 minutes)

I chose this pose because I wanted to feel more alert and energised, and wanted to see if I could experience the stimulating effect of restorative backbends. I didn’t want to choose a too intense backbend (like fully supported bridge) because it was still early morning and my back felt stiff, so I chose this pose instead. Before doing the pose I was feeling quite sleepy, as it was still quite early in the morning. After the pose I felt more rejuvenated, but in a very calm way. For next time, I might raise my feet a bit higher as I felt my heels starting to press into the floor after a few minutes because the blanket roll under my ankles was too small.
