YOUR TEACHER TRAINERS
-
Manouk (C-IAYT, E-RYT500) is the Lead Trainer for this programme. She is a certified Yoga Therapist and Yoga Teacher Trainer, with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the realm of remedial and therapeutic yoga training. Her own practice began in 2006, and it has carried her through some monumental life experiences, including multiple open-heart surgeries and the unexpected passing of her father.
Her passion for yoga is contagious and she encourages each of her trainees to cultivate a yoga practice that is authentic and nourishing. She has taught yoga across the globe at training and retreat centers in Australia, New Zealand, Panama, Spain and France. She lectures on the importance of the Body-Mind connection to PhD students at world-renown hospitals, and works privately with individuals experiencing anxiety and chronic fatigue. She is also a faculty member of The Yoga Therapy Institute’s 875-hour Yoga Therapy Diploma.
-
Lynette is a co-trainer for this programme. She is an experienced yoga and meditation teacher and space holder of 12.5 years, known for her intelligent and consciousness in motion yoga classes and action on and off the mat. Lynette is committed to achieving true wellness by finding balance and creating inclusive spaces for everyone. Lynette believes that wellness spaces should be accessible, diverse, inclusive and equitable.
Her cheerful demeanour, positive vibrations and contagious optimism empower students, peers and colleagues to practice with enthusiasm, while her detailed instruction, poetic and soulful language create a safe space for everyone to explore the landscapes of their body, mind and soul. Lynette offers vinyasa practices with philosophy, poetry, heart, laughter en route to profound realisation, poignant revelation, occasional tears and frequent experiences of astonishment and awe toward this miraculous existence. Yin and restorative teachings that lead you to internal experiences of stillness and deep divine rest, collective care , healing and ritual. Lynette believes everyone has the right to belong and incorporate our intersectionalities and individual collective trauma.
-
Biddy is a co-trainer for this program. She is a yoga teacher and is on the cusp of becoming a Yoga Therapist. She has been teaching group classes, retreats and private sessions since 2017. She assisted Adriene Mischler (Yoga with Adriene) in her latest European Roadshow, and also assisted Lizzie Lasater with her recent Restorative teacher trainings in the Netherlands. Biddy's teachings are all based on her knowledge of the body and movement, combined with compassion and a little bit of nerdy humor. Biddy’s style of teaching will invite you to explore, be curious and kind to yourself. She brings creativity and compassion to her sessions and works trauma informed.
Biddy’s biggest passion in movement, meditation and rest is to empower her students to make the practice of yoga fit their needs and abilities. She found her passion for yoga when she noticed the effect her practice had. Not just on her body, but on her mind and life. Biddy took her first Yoga Teacher Training to deepen her understanding of yoga, but as a result realised that she wanted to share and teach yoga to others as well. She focuses mostly on Flow Yoga and Embodied movement, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra.

Natascha (RYT500) is a co-trainer and certified Yoga Teacher and is currently completing the 875-hour certification as a Yoga Therapist with The Yoga Therapy Institute. She has undertaken extensive training to deepen her knowledge in various styles of yoga, including Yin yoga, Restorative yoga, Yoga Nidra, Aerial yoga, and more. For her, learning is a daily ritual. Natascha began her yoga journey at the young age of 15. She returned to yoga after experiencing back pain, which resulted from years of participating in various sports and weightlifting—activities she later realized were the cause of her discomfort. Through her teacher training program, she gained profound insights into how the body functions, which has become her greatest passion. Specializing in yoga for back pain, Natascha integrates her understanding of the body-mind connection and trauma. She has helped many individuals become aware of and manage their pain. Her passion extends beyond teaching yoga classes; she is dedicated to educating others about anatomy, the connection between mindset and lifestyle, trauma, and breath.
Why study with us?
We see a lot of students go for an online yoga teacher certification because it seems cheaper upfront, only to have to pay again for an in-person training afterwards.
This is due to online trainings not always giving you the feedback, confidence and practice to work in person. It is also not always accepted as a credible certificate by all yoga studios. Many studios do require that you have followed an in-person training to teach yoga classes.
We believe that an in-person training, like that of The Yoga Therapy Institute, offers a much higher value for investment and is guaranteed to set you up for a successful career as a Yoga Teacher.
AN INNOVATIVE TRAINING THAT RESPECTS THE TRADITIONS
Yoga only becomes therapeutic when we address the link between the body, breath, mind and emotions. Our training views Yoga as a physical, psychological and spiritual practice and incorporates somatic yoga training techniques.
-
The content of this training is constantly being adapted to accommodate new research findings and innovative practical applications, thereby continuing to raise the bar for the education of our future yoga reachers. The Yoga Therapy Institute’s 200hr Yoga Teacher Training teaches students all the knowledge and skills required to be effective and compassionate yoga teachers and it does this in a collaborative, inspiring and supportive environment with a trauma-informed perspective. Our distinct quality is that we effortlessly blend the ancient intuitive wisdom of Yoga with a contemporary perspective of the mind and body.
The Yoga Therapy Institute was founded by Monserrat G. Mukherjee in 2017 and it has grown to become a leading education provider of specialised Yoga trainings and certified Yoga Therapy Courses, both online and in-person. Frequently Asked Questions
-
Starting the journey to become a yoga teacher is exciting, and sometimes a little bit scary! If you have a love for yoga, and a desire to know more about it, then a Yoga Teacher Training can be a great way to learn. In this Yoga Teacher Training, we place extra emphasis on supporting your personal practice, and also teaching you how to lead a class in a confident and authentic manner. You’ll learn about yoga poses (asana), but also breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation. You will gain a deeper understanding of yoga philosophy, through exploring key historical texts through a contemporary lens. And what is unique about our Yoga Teacher Training is that all of our classes incorporate a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach.
-
Yes, we are a Yoga Alliance certified training (RYS200).
-
We require applicants to have a dedicated yoga practice of at least one year (or 5 classes) prior to starting their 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. It is not necessary to be able to do ‘advanced’ asanas (poses), but a familiarity with a variety of asanas, and some experience as a student in a yoga class is ideal. The purpose of the training is to refine your practice and also show you how to teach or share yoga with others in a safe and confident manner. During the training we will certainly explore a few challenging poses, but the goal will be to understand the pose, and not perform the pose!
-
By the end of this training you will be able to comfortably and confidently teach Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga. We explore yoga through the idea of ‘the pose is made to fit the person, rather than the person is made to fit the pose’. We look at endless variations, and also explore the benefits and contraindications for each pose. You will also learn how to teach Pranayama (breathing) techniques.
-
No, it is not possible to complete this training online. As this is often the first Yoga Teacher Training that a person embarks on, the in-person element is fundamental to being able to teach yoga in a safe, confident, trauma-informed and intelligent manner.
During the training, we look in-depth at the individuality of every person’s body, we learn to read facial expressions and breathing patterns. And we realize how important it is to give correct hands-on assists and adjustments.
The Yoga Therapy Institute firmly believes that an in-person experience for a first Yoga Teacher Training is invaluable, and will also make you stand out as a highly capable Yoga Teacher.
(It is also important to note that many yoga studios do not hire yoga teachers who have completed a fully online Yoga Teacher Training).

We have two locations for our 200hr Yoga teacher Trainings:
La Roane Yoga Center in Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, in the South of France. The center has been open for 20+ years, and has multiple facilities to make your Yoga Teacher Training journey an insightful and enjoyable experience. The center is one-hour drive from Toulouse Airport, which boasts many direct flights from and to major European cities. There is a transfer service available for when you arrive at the airport. It is also possible to reach the center by train - Caussade is the closest train station - and pick-up/drop-off is free of charge. There are parking spaces available if you decide to come by car.
Oodles Retreat in Benissa, Spain. This is a stunning villa with indulgent facilities such as an outdoor pool, lounges, tennis courts and ensuite private and twin rooms. The retreat center is only 45 minutes drive from Alicante Airport and 75 minutes from Valencia airport. A transfer service is available from both airports.

Nowadays, there are so many different Yoga Teacher Training programmes to choose from it can be hard to know what is the best choice for you.
A couple of unique strengths that The Yoga Therapy Institute’s 200 hour YTT offers are:
Small-scale groups. We only take a maximum of 12 trainees per in-person training. This means you will receive plenty of individual attention, and have much more opportunity to practice your teaching skills compared to other yoga teacher trainings. You will also have the chance to ask more questions, discuss more topics that pique your interest, and develop a close relationship with your trainers and fellow trainees.
World-class faculty. Our faculty only consists of certified Yoga Therapists, meaning they have completed over 800 hours of additional study to the average yoga teacher trainer. You will start your yoga teacher journey learning from trainers who implement a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach into all of the work they do.
Our trainers not only teach yoga, but also present at hospitals and universities about the importance of yoga. They work one-on-one with individuals dealing with a wide range of illnesses and challenges, and they offer specialized workshops in their areas of expertise.
A trauma-informed approach. This is one of the only YTTs in the world that infuses a trauma-informed perspective into all aspects of the training. And the learnings from this style of teaching are highly applicable in our modern-day life, where trauma and chronic stress are experienced by almost everybody. Your future students will not only appreciate your in-depth understanding of yoga, but also HOW you share this knowledge with them.
-
Payment plans are available. Our intention is to make this training accessible for all. Please contact Manouk (manouk@theyogatherapyinstitute.org) if you require further assistance or information.
